ABOUT JIMENA DE LA FRONTERA

Jimena de la Frontera sits strategically between the Serranía de Ronda mountains and the Bay of Algeciras, just 30 minutes from the coast and Gibraltar. It's approximately an hour from Málaga and also benefits from a historic railway station on the scenic Algeciras to Ronda line.

  • Airports: Gibraltar (30 min), Málaga (1 hour), Jerez (90 min)

  • Trains: Rail connections on the historic Algeciras-Ronda-Granada line

  • Road: 35km inland from San Roque on the A-405 road

The village sits within Los Alcornocales Natural Park, featuring ancient cork oak forests, rivers, and epic views stretching to Gibraltar and as far as Africa. Jimena also enjoys 3,000 hours of sunshine per year with average temperatures between 18-20°C, making it ideal for year-round celebrations and events. Jimena Castle was built by the Moors around 750 CE on Roman ruins.

Though the village retains its traditional ambience, with cobbled streets and whitewashed houses, it also has an international community with plenty of accommodation for additional guests, as well as restaurants and bars. The combination of accessibility, stunning surroundings, perfect weather, and authentic Spanish charm makes Jimena an ideal destination.
